Online cooling-off where ECTA applies
CPA defect remedies — your choice
ECTA refund deadline after qualifying cancellation
You never have to accept a store policy that takes away a consumer right granted by South African law.
01Online cooling-off
If section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) applies to your order, you may cancel for any reason within seven days after receiving the goods, without a cancellation penalty. Applicable statutory exceptions are set out in section 42.
For a qualifying cancellation, the consumer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods; no other cancellation penalty is charged. The price paid is refunded within 30 days of cancellation, as required by ECTA.
02Faulty, unsafe or defective goods
Under sections 55–56 of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), qualifying goods must meet the required standards of quality and fitness. If goods fail these standards within six months of delivery, you may return them without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense, and choose a repair, replacement or refund, as provided by section 56.
If a repair fails or another defect occurs within three months after that repair, section 56(3) may entitle you to a replacement or refund. These statutory rights operate alongside our separate 12-month store warranty.
Ordinary wear, accidental damage arising after delivery, or a condition specifically disclosed and knowingly accepted does not automatically mean that the goods were defective at supply. Each claim is assessed fairly under applicable law.
03Wrong, incomplete or transit-damaged orders
If you receive the wrong model, storage, colour, a missing item, or an item damaged during delivery, notify Price Bash as soon as practical with your order reference and a description or photographs. Prompt reporting helps us investigate, but a late report does not automatically remove statutory rights.
We will arrange an appropriate collection, correction, replacement or refund at our expense where the goods were wrong or defective when supplied. The risk of delivery remains with the supplier until legally accepted delivery.
04How to request a return
Back up your data, sign out of personal accounts and disable Find My iPhone/activation locks before handing over a device. Remove SIM cards. If you need help, contact us before resetting the device.
05How refunds are paid
Approved refunds are normally made to the original payment method, subject to the payment provider's processing times and fraud-prevention requirements. A change to payment details may require verification.
ECTA section 44 refunds are made within its 30-day statutory period. Other refund deadlines and remedies under the CPA remain applicable. If your purchase was financed by a third-party credit provider, any credit reversal or repayment adjustment will follow the provider's lawful processes and the relevant agreement.
06Conditions and exclusions
Not every transaction qualifies for ECTA's seven-day cooling-off right. For example, its statutory exceptions may cover clearly personalised or made-to-specification goods. Any exception is applied only where the law permits it.
Outside a statutory return right, a discretionary change-of-mind return is not automatically offered. Nothing on this page removes or limits rights under ECTA, the CPA or other applicable law.
07Legal foundation
Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, particularly section 56; Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, particularly sections 42–46. If this policy conflicts with a mandatory consumer protection provision, the law prevails.
